When you volunteer, you are giving something back to your community by lending a helping hand to people as well as other organizations. What you may not realize is that volunteering also benefits you as an individual. There are many great reasons to get involved in the community, and by becoming a volunteer, you gain plenty of experiences for your future, including learning something about yourself by challenging your abilities.

Did you know...

The Carteret First Aid Squad does not bill - Many of our patients are surprised to learn that they do not receive a bill when the Carteret First Aid Squad responds to their emergencies. The Carteret First Aid Squad is a fully volunteer, non-profit organization, paid for by the generous donations of residents and business owners like you. Our dedicated volunteer personnel are on staff every night from 6:00pm to 6:00am to respond to your aid when needed.

Why volunteer?

Volunteer emergency personnel make up 73% of the nation's Fire and EMS agencies. Together, volunteers save American taxpayers an estimated $37.2B annually. Many people in today's generation may ask, "Why do you do it for free?" Although the financial benefits of career EMS outweigh volunteer EMS by far, you gain many other great meaningful benefits you may never gain anywhere else. By being a volunteer, you make many new friends, explore your career and personal interests, build your resume, earn great recommendations for future employment or college applications, uncover your hidden talents and skills, increase your confidence, enrich your education, and most importantly, making a difference and having fun while doing it.
